BULACAN, Philippines — The people have spoken — and in several parts of Bulacan, a political earthquake rattled the local landscape as ballots were tallied and unexpected results emerged.

Governor Daniel Fernando successfully reclaimed his post with a commanding 1,169,428 votes. However, it was Vice Governor-elect Alex Castro who stole the spotlight, garnering an astonishing 1,350,714 votes — surpassing Fernando’s tally by over 180,000 votes.

In Marilao, Atty. Jem Sy made history as the town’s first woman mayor, winning in a landslide with 66,548 votes. Her running mate, Ariel Amador, secured the vice mayoralty with 44,157 votes. Their victory sent shockwaves across the town, marking a major political shift.

In Bocaue, incumbents held firm as Mayor Eduardo “Jonjon” Villanueva cruised to victory with 38,130 votes. His running mate, Vice Mayor Sherwin Tugna, ran unopposed and received 53,889 votes.

In Malolos, Mayor Christian Natividad also ran unopposed, securing 97,706 votes, while Bebong Gatchalian clinched the vice mayoral seat with 47,905 votes.

In Meycauayan, Henry Villarica returned as mayor with 90,906 votes, while Jojie Violago won the vice mayoral race with 62,850 votes.

In Baliwag, Sonia Estrella edged out Madette Quimpo with 44,693 votes to 39,245 in the mayoral race. Former mayor Ferdie Estrella reclaimed the vice mayoralty with 55,251 votes, defeating Mabel Pascual’s 34,162 votes.

In San Jose del Monte, Rida Robes won the mayoral race with 126,457 votes, while Arlene Bartolome secured the vice mayoralty with 87,587 votes.

In Obando, Mayor Ding Valeda retained his post with 13,699 votes, alongside Vice Mayor Rowell Rillera who garnered 15,435 votes.

In Balagtas, Andy Andrews Santiago and his running mate Monay Payuran both received 28,159 votes — a perfectly matched tandem win.

In Doña Remedios Trinidad, RTF Flores won the mayoral seat with 16,264 votes, while Marie Flores was elected vice mayor with 15,202 votes.

In Pandi, Rico Roque triumphed as mayor with 60,270 votes, with Cris Castro winning the vice mayoralty by the same vote count.

In Angat, Jowar Bautista narrowly defeated Narding De Leon with 18,892 votes to 18,633. Vice mayor-elect Arvin Agustin led the ticket with 21,797 votes.

In Paombong, Mac Marcos won the mayoral race with 14,400 votes over Ems Yunson’s 10,879. JC Castro secured the vice mayoralty with 19,190 votes.

In Bulakan, Vergel Meneses returned as mayor with 26,967 votes, alongside Vice Mayor-elect Aaron Ronald Cruz with 26,580 votes.

In Bustos, Iskul Juan earned 26,344 votes to become mayor, while Martin Angeles won the vice mayoral seat with 24,732 votes.

In Calumpit, Mayor Lem Faustino retained his seat with 33,141 votes. His running mate Zar Candelaria won the vice mayoralty with 34,891 votes.

In Hagonoy, Charo Sy-Alvarado won the mayoral race with 25,368 votes. Jhane Dela Cruz secured the vice mayoralty with 28,178 votes.

In Norzagaray, Mayor Merlyn Germar was reelected with 41,046 votes, while Giulius Samson won as vice mayor with 33,064 votes.

In Plaridel, Jocell Vistan emerged victorious in the mayoral race with 41,290 votes, while Mhel De Leon secured 37,742 votes as vice mayor.

In Pulilan, RJ Peralta clinched the mayoral seat with 24,211 votes, defeating Carlo Castillo’s 20,005. Imee Cruz was elected vice mayor with 29,186 votes.

In San Ildefonso, Gazo Galvez won the mayoralty with 46,862 votes, while Admin-Chariz Galvez won the vice mayoralty with 40,680 votes.

In San Miguel, Bong Alvarez narrowly defeated Jiboy Cabochan with 29,789 votes to 27,612. Jhong Reyes won the vice mayoralty with 34,169 votes.

In San Rafael, Cipriano “Goto” Violago ran unopposed and secured 29,718 votes, while Edison Veneracion garnered 44,916 votes as vice mayor.

In Santa Maria, Omeng Ramos reclaimed the mayoralty with 78,852 votes, while Obet Perez won the vice mayoralty with 65,386 votes.

From strongholds to shockers, the 2025 Bulacan elections delivered a mix of upsets and affirmations — a vibrant display of democracy in action.
