School principal shot and wounded in Nueva Ecija

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Education (DepEd) in Central Luzon vehemently condemns the shooting of a public school principal in Jaen, Nueva Ecija on September 19.

Police report provided to ARKIPELAGO NEWS BULACAN by DepEd Central Luzon office identified the victim as Reden Daquiz, public school principal of Sto. Tomas North Elementary School.

The victim, who was on board his white Toyota Fortuner with license plate CAF 8643 and was already in front of his school, when he was shot several times by unidentified riding in tandem suspects on board a blue Suzuki Raider motorcycle who immediately sped away after the shooting incident.

Daquiz was rushed to the Nueva Ecija Medical Center for treatments on the gun shot wounds that he received.

Capt. Franklin Sindac, information officer of the Nueva Ecija Police Office, said Daquiz received seven slight gunshot wounds in his arm and tummy and is now in stable condition in the hospital’s recovery room.

The DeEd regional office said in its official statement that it “is coordinating with the concerned field offices and the police to apprehend the perpetrators of this brutal crime….We denounce any acts of injustice towards our personnel, learners, and stakeholders. We maintain and advocate that our schools and communities remain as zones of peace for every Filipino.”
