Mon Lazaro September 5, 2024 at 12:18 PMCITY OF MALOLOS — The water level of Angat Dam has continued to rise due to rains brought by Typhoon Enteng and the enhanced southwest monsoon over the past three days.
Meanwhile, dam operators at Ipo and Bustos Dams have been releasing water over the same period because of the increasing water levels in their reservoirs caused by the heavy rains.
According to records from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Bulacan, as of 8:00 a.m. on September 4, the water level of Angat Dam stood at 189.78 meters (M). Ipo and Bustos Dams, meanwhile, recorded elevations of 100.59M and 16.86M, respectively.
Angat Dam’s water level, currently 9.78 meters above its minimum operating level of 180M, has risen by 2.18 meters compared to the previous day’s level of 187.60M. However, it remains 23.22 meters below its normal high water level of 212.00M.
As of 8:00 a.m. yesterday, data from the National Irrigation Administration Central Luzon Office showed that Ipo Dam has been releasing a total of 84.80 cubic meters per second (CMS) of water into its downstream river system.
Bustos Dam, receiving water from its upstream river system, including releases from Ipo Dam, has raised its Sluice Gates 1 and 2 by three meters each, while Sluice Gate 3 was raised by 2.5 meters. This resulted in a total water release of 144 CMS.
