Angat Dam water rises past minimum operating level, Bustos, Ipo Dams reduce water releases
Mon Lazaro July 25, 2024 at 07:45 PMSAN RAFAEL, Bulacan — The water elevation at Angat Dam has risen past its minimum operating level of 180 meters (M), while Bustos and Ipo Dams have reduced their water releases as of Thursday (July 25).
Data provided to ARKIPELAGO NEWS BULACAN by Josephine Salazar, the National Irrigation Administration Central Luzon regional director, showed that as of 2:00 PM yesterday (July 24), Angat Dam’s water level had risen to 182.73M from 179.40M on Wednesday, surpassing its minimum operating level of 180M.
Meanwhile, the water elevation of Bustos Dam has decreased to 16.62M, which is below its spilling level of 17.35M, while Ipo Dam’s water level was 101.07M, just above its spilling level of 101.00M.
Bustos Dam reduced its water release volume on Thursday to 158 cubic meters per second (cms) from 1,120 cms on Wednesday. It has also inflated its two rubber gates, which were deflated on Wednesday, and currently raised its three sluice gates by three meters each to spill excess water.
Similarly, Ipo Dam has reduced its water spilling from 362.92 cms on Wednesday to 34.70 cms yesterday.
