Army major shot dead in Bulacan

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A major of the Philippine Army was fatally shot by an unidentified gunman in Barangay Marungko, Angat, Bulacan late Saturday afternoon.
Col. Relly Arnedo, the Bulacan police director, identified the victim as Maj. Dennis Moreno, a member of the Philippine Army currently assigned to AFP-RESCOM General Headquarters and a resident of Barangay San Roque, Angat town.
Based on the initial investigation and the eyewitness account of the victim’s secretary, Moreno was inside his office when an unidentified suspect entered and shot him multiple times with a short firearm. The suspect then quickly fled the scene on a black motorcycle in an unknown direction.
Moreno was rushed to Twin Care Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
Upon receiving the report, the Bulacan Police immediately activated a flash alarm and launched a dragnet operation to locate the suspect. Additionally, the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team from Regional Forensic Unit 3 has been called in to process the crime scene and collect evidence.
A special investigation task group has been assembled to look into the incident. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
