Barangay Chairman shot dead in Angat, Bulacan

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A barangay chairman in Angat, Bulacan was shot dead on Saturday morning.
A report submitted to Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., regional police director of Central Luzon, identified the victim as Wenceslao “Winnie” Bernardo, barangay chairman of Marungko, Angat, Bulacan.
The initial report said the victim, along with his constituents, was conducting a clean-up drive around 6:30 am in Sitio Tugatog, Barangay Marungko in the said town when two unidentified suspects on a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle without a license plate arrived. The back rider shot the victim twice at the back of his head.

After the shooting incident, the suspects immediately fled toward the general direction of Bustos town.
Bystanders then rushed the victim to the Twin Care Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Local police immediately conducted a dragnet and follow-up operation for the possible apprehension and identification of the suspects while scene of the crime operatives from the Bulacan Forensic Unit were requested to process the crime scene.
