Bulacan board member, driver die in ambush

CITY OF MALOLOS — A provincial board member and his driver were killed in an ambush on Thursday in this city.
Reports reaching Col. Satur Ediong, police director of Bulacan, identified the victims as Ramilito Capistrano, a provincial board member and president of the League of Barangays in the province, and his driver, Shedrick Suarez. Capistrano was a resident of Barangay Caingin, San Rafael, while Suarez was a resident of Barangay Caingin, Malolos City.
Initial investigations revealed that the victims were aboard a Mitsubishi Montero with license plate CBZ6532, traveling along the service road in Barangay Ligas, Malolos, at around 6:30 p.m. when unidentified assailants fired multiple shots at the vehicle, instantly killing both men.
Ediong appealed to the public for any information that could help solve the crime. He encouraged individuals to report tips to the nearest police station or contact the Bulacan PPO Hotline at 09178563153 or 09985985372, or the Malolos City Police Station at 044-796-2483 or 09985985383.
In response to the incident, Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, newly appointed regional police director of Central Luzon, ordered the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) “CAPISTRANO.”
The SITG has been tasked with conducting an in-depth investigation and is exploring all possible motives behind the killings.
Maranan emphasized that the case is a top priority and that investigators are currently gathering evidence to identify the suspects.
