CITY OF MALOLOS — Bulacan flood agravated by dams water release and excess water of the San Jose del Monte river system.
In a radio interview, Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando, who is still in South Korea for an economic mission, blamed the release of Bustos Dam of more than 700 CMS of water to the floodwater in its downstream river system.
The governor pointed out that dam officials should have made preventive water releases before the big volume of water starts cascading down the Angat River system.

The governor also pointed to the big volume of water from the San Jose Del Monte river system as the culprit in the overflowing of the Bocaue River.
Motorists felt the brunt of the flood as it inundated a stretch of the North Luzon Expressway in Bocaue, Bulacan including parts of MacArthur Highway in the said town that are both major thoroughfares in going to and from Bulacan.

Donna Marcelo, vice president of the communication and stakeholder management of NLEX Corporation, said in a text message that “Flooding was due to the overflow of the Bocaue River and the release of water from Ipo Dam [Saturday]. While this was a force majeure incident, we are studying ways to mitigate the impact moving forward.”
