Bulacan policeman dies after being run over by a government-marked vehicle
Mon Lazaro February 29, 2024 at 08:49 AMCAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A Bulacan policeman died when he was run over by a government-marked vehicle from Nueva Viscaya on Wednesday morning (February 28).
Col. Relly Arnedo, Bulacan police director, identified the fatality as Pat. Edmond John Arenas, 26 years old and a member of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company stationed at Patrol Base in Barangay Buhol na Mangga, San Ildefonso, Bulacan.
Initial investigation showed that Arenas was riding at the back of of their police-marked vehicle, a Troop Carrier Hyundai 100, driven by Pat. Klein Orbita, and was traversing southbound towards Manila at about 5:00 am in Barangay Balite, San Miguel, Bulacan when he accidentally fell.
The victim fell and was accidentally struck and overrun by the government-owned vehicle of Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya, a Mitsubishi L200 with license plate SJS 946 driven by Joel Rivera.
Arenas was rushed to the San Miguel District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending physician, while Rivera is now facing criminal complaints for the death of the victim.
