Bulakeños rejected highly urbanize city bid of San Jose del Monte
Mon Lazaro November 1, 2023 at 02:32 PMCITY OF MALOLOS — The bid of the City of San Jose del Monte (CSJDM) to be converted into a highly urbanize city was rejected in a plebiscite held simultaneously with the 2023 Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Elections on October 30.
A total of 1,441,092 Bulakeños participated in the said plebiscite that was conducted in all of the 20 towns and four cities of Bulacan.
Majority of the said voters rejected the highly urbanize city bid of the CSJDM with the Yes vote only gathering 620,707 votes while the No vote has 820,385 or a difference of 199,678 votes
The plebiscite has only two questions that required only a Yes or No vote.
A Yes vote would lead to the ratification of the CSJDM into a highly urbanize city while
a No vote means the voter does not want the CSJDM to be converted into a highly urbanize city.
Proponents of the highly urbanize city of CSJDM were only given 10 days to campaign all over the province.
The Provincial Board of Canvassers (BOC) completed the canvassing for the plebiscite vote past 2:00 am yesterday (November 1).
