CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Central Luzon recorded the highest number of apprehensions on the first day of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, along with 11 areas of concern for the upcoming midterm elections in May 2025.
This was confirmed by Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, the newly appointed Region 3 police director, after attending her first flag-raising ceremony at this camp on January 13.

Fajardo noted that as of 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, 25 gun ban violators had been arrested in the region, and some of the confiscated firearms were presented to the media on Monday morning.
Eight of the violators were arrested in Nueva Ecija, six each in Bataan and Pampanga, three in Zambales, and two in Bulacan.
Fajardo also mentioned that 314 checkpoints had been established across the region, with 2,438 police personnel deployed early Sunday morning to enforce the nationwide Comelec gun ban.

She explained that carrying and transporting firearms, deadly weapons, and explosives are strictly prohibited from January 12 to June 11, 2025, as part of the election period, and violators face imprisonment ranging from one to 12 years.
Meanwhile, Fajardo confirmed that there are 11 areas of concern in Central Luzon. She stated that 10 areas are under the yellow category, one under the orange category, and none under the red category. Fajardo did not specify the 10 areas under the yellow category but identified the area under the orange category as San Antonio in Nueva Ecija.
