URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan — A midnight anti-illegal-drugs raid by the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP‑DEG) in Urdaneta City resulted in an armed encounter that left one suspect dead and nearly 40 grams of suspected shabu seized.
Operatives from Special Operations Unit 1 attempted to serve a warrant and conduct a buy-bust operation targeting a suspect known only as “Dupax” on June 10. According to police reports, the suspect resisted arrest and engaged officers in an armed confrontation. He was immediately rushed to the Urdaneta City District Hospital but was pronounced dead by attending physicians.
Police confiscated nearly 40 grams of suspected crystal meth with a street value of approximately ₱272,000 and additional non-drug paraphernalia.
PNP-DEG Director Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy commended his team’s swift and professional response.
“While it is never our objective for any operation to end in loss of life, we were faced with a dangerous situation that required immediate and decisive action to protect ourselves and the public,” he stated.
