BULACAN – Health officials have reported a sharp rise in dengue cases in Bulacan, with six fatalities recorded since the start of the year.
According to the Bulacan Provincial Health Office (PHO), 4,114 cases have been confirmed between January 1 and March 1—a 272% increase compared to the same period last year.

The victims, aged 3 to 56, were among thousands infected as the mosquito-borne virus continues to spread across the province. In the past week alone, cases surged by 504, highlighting the severity of the outbreak.
Dengue Outbreak Spreads Across Key Towns
Health authorities reported that at least 180 barangays across 20 towns and four cities have recorded a clustering of dengue cases, meaning infections have been reported for four consecutive weeks.
The areas with the highest number of cases include San Jose del Monte City (448 cases), Santa Maria (416 cases), Marilao (300 cases), and Meycauayan City (296 cases).

Children aged 10 to 14 account for 22% of the cases, according to officials.
The Department of Health (DOH) has also noted a rise in cases across Central Luzon, where infections have reached 9,058 between January 1 and February 22—a 236% increase from the previous year.
Bulacan LGU Steps Up Response
Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando has ordered the establishment of dengue fast lanes in hospitals such as the Bulacan Medical Center to prioritize early detection and treatment. Health teams are also conducting misting operations, spraying insecticides in affected areas, including schools and classrooms.
Residents have been urged to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, use protective measures, and seek medical attention if symptoms appear.

Dengue fever is a viral disease spread by infected Aedes mosquitoes. Symptoms can range from mild flu-like illness to severe cases involving bleeding, organ failure, and death.
Health authorities warn that cases may continue to rise in the coming weeks.
