SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The family of Vonn Erika Raymundo has confirmed her death after her body was found near a creek in Ciudad de Hizon on the morning of January 16.
In a statement released on January 16 at 8:05 p.m., RD Raymundo, Erika’s father, expressed grief over their loss, emphasizing the struggles many migrant families face and shedding light on the emotional toll the younger generation endures.
“As a migrant Filipino family, our situation may not differ from many Filipino families being forcibly broken by poverty and other societal ills,” he said.
“She [Erika] may have experienced emotional and mental distress during the pandemic, which she may not have been able to outgrow,” her father wrote.
He expressed gratitude to everyone who sympathized and helped them in finding their daughter.
“She is now at peace, and she did it in her way as she wants it,” the statement read.
“As a father, I am humbly asking for your understanding if we can no longer give further details about the manner of her death,” he added.
Seventeen-year-old Vonn Erika Raymundo, a Grade 12 student at Pampanga High School, was reported missing on January 13. She was last seen at around 6:00 a.m. on her way to PHS in San Fernando City.
