Female worker dies as firecracker factory explodes
Mon Lazaro November 23, 2023 at 12:25 AMBOCAUE, Bulacan — A female worker died as a firecracker factory exploded in this town late afternoon of Wednesday (November 22).
Rodante Galvez, municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer confirmed to ARKIPELAGO NEWS BULACAN that the firecracker factory located in Barangay Bunlo in this town exploded around 5:30 pm and causing burnt injuries to a 49-year-old woman.
The victim was rushed to the Bulacan Medical Center where she died a few hours later.
Meanwhile, retired police Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Bulacan, identified the victim as Rizza Villanueva a worker in the firecracker factory.
Lukban said the Bocaue Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the factory only exploded and no fire was monitored after the blast.
The BFP is still conducting an investigation on the cause of the explosion and other details about the factory, Lukban added.
