CITY OF BALIUAG — Rep. Lanie Revilla announced during the 20th Buntal Hat Festival in this city yesterday (May 28) that there is no funding yet for the amended Centenarian Act this year. However, she expressed hope that it will be included in next year’s national budget.
The congresswoman represented her husband, Sen. Bong Revilla, author of R.A. 11982, also known as the Centenarian Act, as the guest speaker during the event held at the Star Arena in this city.
Revilla advised those who have reached the ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 as of March 15, 2024, to register at their respective Office for Senior Citizens Affairs. The budget for the amended law may be approved next year, as the Revillas, together with their colleagues in the House and Senate, are pushing for its inclusion in the 2025 budget.
Revilla explained that senior citizens who have reached the ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 will be given P10,000 on each birthday occasion. Additionally, if a senior citizen reaches 100 years old, they will be given another P100,000.
