BOCAUE, Bulacan — As the New Year’s celebration just more than a week away, legitimate fireworks stakeholders welcome the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) product standard (PS) mark inspections on the industry’s finished products.
Jovenson Ong, president of the Philippine Fireworks Association, said in a text message, “It’s good that DTI’s [Bureau of Product Standard] BPS has monitored these fake PS mark products.
He added, ” I hope that they will make sure that all manufacturers of consumer fireworks will follow the PS, standards and apprehend the manufacturers of these fake PS marked products.”
There were also speculations that imported smuggled pyrotechnic devices have found its way in the local market, that Ong earlier said have been competing with legally made fireworks.
On the other hand DTI-Bulacan reported that through its consumer protection division have been monitoring and inspecting fireworks stalls in the towns of Bocaue, Sta.Maria, San Rafael and the City of Baliwag.
This is to ensure that only compliant fireworks, that is with valid PS mark licenses, are sold in the market.
List of fireworks with valid PS certification mark licenses were also distributed to retailers and information on where to access updated and complete list of certified products through the BPS webpage was also provided.
