Maisug rally in Bulacan cancelled
Mon Lazaro April 29, 2024 at 03:35 PMThe Maisug Rally scheduled to be held in Bustos, Bulacan, at 5:00 pm yesterday (Sunday) was canceled. Verdel de los Santos, one of the organizers, confirmed via text message to ARKIPELAGO NEWS BULACAN that the cancellation came from the camp of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The lead convenor for the Maisug rally in Bulacan, Bishop Efraim Perez, initially met at a location where he was joined by Delos Santos, the Central Luzon regional organizer for TAPS Organization, along with Amrodem Rasul from Angeles City, Domingo Masarabat from Bulacan’s agriculture and fishery sector, Jimmy Tinio from Zambales, Noel Camuhat, and Dr. Edein Manipi of ACCERT SARA ALL MOVEMENT from Angeles City, Pampanga.
According to police reports, the owner of the private property and their legal counsel, along with Maj. Michael Santos, acting police chief of Bustos town, held a dialogue with the rally organizers before 10:00 am on Sunday. During the dialogue, the property owner reiterated that the land was not for lease and did not consent to its use for the rally. They declined the organizers’ request for the property’s use.
It can be recalled that on April 24 this year, the organizers convened at Our Daily Bread Resort in Bustos town, reporting that former President Duterte, along with his son Paulo “Pulong” Duterte, Atty. Glenn Chiong, Atty. Harry Roque, and others were expected to attend the rally.
