CITY OF MALOLOS — The National Food Authority (NFA) office in Bulacan has conducted test milling of its palay stocks in preparation for processing its stockpiles of the staple grain.
Rhona Talens, acting NFA Bulacan manager, showed several samples of milled palay, demonstrating good-quality rice.
Records from the grains agency in Bulacan showed that it already has a total palay inventory of 527,905.04 bags.
Its warehouses in Balagtas, San Ildefonso, and San Miguel have already reached full capacity as of yesterday (April 25).
The records also showed that 60.84 percent of the rice crops in Bulacan have already been harvested.
According to Talens, the ongoing palay harvest can still be accommodated by the newly rehabilitated warehouse in Malolos, which will start procuring palay by the first week of May.
She added that the Malolos warehouse can stockpile up to 90,000 bags of palay.
