NLEX officials inspect almost complete Candaba 3rd Viaduct
Mon Lazaro November 21, 2024 at 05:56 AMPULILAN, Bulacan – Officials from NLEX Corporation, along with Bulacan and Pampanga representatives, conducted an inspection of the nearly completed Candaba 3rd Viaduct of the North Luzon Expressway yesterday.
The on-site inspection revealed that the project is approximately 97 percent complete.
The Candaba 3rd Viaduct, a five-kilometer-long structure, is being constructed between two existing bridges that connect the towns of Pulilan, Bulacan, and Apalit, Pampanga. It is expected to open to motorists this coming December.
The viaduct was built as part of NLEX Corporation’s decongestion program.
Construction began in the third quarter of 2023, with an initial target completion time of 22 months. Zone 1, or the Pulilan section, opened to the public in August 2024, while the Zone 2 portion in Apalit became operational in October 2024.
The Candaba Viaduct is a vital link between Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Northern Luzon. It is anticipated to address the growing traffic demand in the north, fostering the growth of tourism, trade, and commerce across regions.
NLEX Corporation president and general manager J. Luigi L. Bautista stated, “This project would not be possible without the support of both our public and private partners; thus, we deem it fit to give some of our valued stakeholders a glimpse of this vital infrastructure.”
“Despite the numerous typhoons that challenged us during construction, we remain committed to delivering this project before the Christmas holiday rush,” Bautista added.
