Online sabong operator arrested in Bulacan

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — An online “sabong” (cockfight) operator suspect was arrested in Hagonoy town on Saturday night ((November 18).

Reports reaching Col. Relly Arnedo, Bulacan police director, said the suspect was a 42-year-old male.

Initial investigation showed that operatives of the Hagonoy Police Station conducted an illegal gambling operation in Purok 2, Brgy. San Isidro, Hagonoy town around 10:00 pm.

The operation led to the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of a flat-screen television, two remote controls, a smartbox, a charger, and bet money in different denominations.

It can be recalled that online sabong or e-sabong was declared illegal by former President Rodrigo Duterte and in December last year, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order No. 9 directing continued suspension of electronic sabong operations nationwide.
