BIÑAN, Laguna — Fifty-four parcels of dried marijuana leaves were found by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Thursday, August 1, during an interdiction operation in Barangay Tubigan, Biñan City.

The supervisor of a courier firm reported packages suspected of containing drugs to the PDEA Seaport Interdiction Unit-Batangas and the PDEA-Laguna Provincial Office, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 4-A.

The agents found a sack with 56 different-sized bundles containing dried marijuana leaves. The entire weight of the parcels was 7,000 grams, and their estimated value was P840,000.

An investigation has been initiated by PDEA Regional Office IV-A to track down and capture the individuals who sent these shipments. Those responsible will face criminal charges under Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This law imposes severe penalties for producing, distributing, and possessing illegal narcotics, including marijuana.

The successful operation emphasizes the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the community in combating drug trafficking. The PDEA advises people to remain watchful and report any suspicious activity to help keep communities secure.
