Policeman killed in robbery incident in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A policeman was killed while responding to a robbery incident in Nueva Ecija early Sunday morning.
An initial report received by Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, regional police director of Central Luzon, identified the victim as Police Staff Sergeant Jhon Espinoza of the Peñaranda Municipal Police Station.
The initial investigation revealed that the Peñaranda Municipal Police Station received a phone call around 12:16 a.m. on Sunday regarding a robbery at a supermarket in Barangay Poblacion I, Peñaranda town.
Responding police officers were met with gunfire from unidentified suspects, and Espinoza was shot in the head.
The policeman was immediately rushed to Gapan District Hospital in Gapan City, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police operatives are currently conducting follow-up investigations into the incident.
