CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan—The remains of two drowning victims in the City of Baliwag on Tuesday were found and retrieved Wednesday afternoon in the river system of the adjacent town of Bustos.
Reports reaching Col. Satur Ediong, acting Bulacan police director, identified the victims as Dave Mangahas, 24, a survey aide and resident of Balolong Malaki, San Ildefonso, Bulacan, and Roxan Limus, 38, an engineer and resident of San Miguel, Burgos, Pangasinan.
Retrieval and rescue teams first found Mangahas around noon on Wednesday in the river system at Barangay Cambaog, Bustos.
The remains of Mangahas were brought to Giao Funeral Services in San Ildefonso, where his uncle positively identified him, the report added.
Meanwhile, the City of Baliwag’s information office reported that Limus’ remains were discovered and retrieved around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, also in the river system at Barangay Cambaog, Bustos.
Initial investigation showed that Mangahas slipped and fell into the Dos Palmas River in Barangay Makinabang, City of Baliwag, on Tuesday around noon. Limus attempted to save him, but both were swept away by the strong river current and drowned.
