BOCAUE, Bulacan – Legitimate fireworks stakeholders believe that the spike in fireworks-related injuries this year was caused by products sold through illegal online platforms.
The sources of these fireworks sold online are speculated to come from unauthorized manufacturers producing inferior-quality products that are dangerous to use.
On the other hand, Allan Cayanan, a legitimate fireworks dealer in Bocaue, stated that most, if not all, licensed pyrotechnic stalls in Bocaue have sold out their stocks.
Meanwhile, Justina Gabuyo, an official of the Bocaue Multisectoral Advisory Council representing the business sector, explained that the sales of fireworks products, particularly traditional ones, were brisk this season.
“Sa aking pananaw, maganda ang naging bentahan, lalo na ang [traditional] products, dahil ang P1,000 nila marami na ang mabibili lalo na yung talagang konti lang budget nila, dahil meron na sila lucis, fountain, kwitis, at higad,” Gabuyo noted.
