SM Foundation produces 39 TESDA NC 2 agri graduates in Bulacan
Mon Lazaro March 2, 2024 at 12:45 PMCITY OF MALOLOS — SM Foundation’s “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Sustainable Agriculture Program” recently produced 39 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) agriculture graduates in Bulacan
Veronica Cunan, public relations officer of SM Supermalls in Bulacan, explained that the beneficiaries of the program underwent 14 weeks of hands-on training in urban and rural agriculture techniques in support of the government’s food security agenda.
The program include trainings on land preparation, seedling, fertilizer concoction, sustainability workshops and forums, financial literacy and bookkeeping, pricing and costing, as well as product development.
The graduates received their National Certificate II from TESDA that could provide them with career advancement opportunities in the farming sector.
Sixteen beneficiaries of SM City Marilao underwent urban farming course that was designed to maximize the limited space for food production and sustainability in the urban setting.
The program provides low-income urban communities with essential skills in high-value crop farming by transforming underutilized urban spaces into productive gardens.
On the other hand, 23 beneficiaries of SM Center Pulilan completed their agricultural trainings for rural farming.
The program is in partnership with the local government units in Bulacan, Department of Agriculture, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, TESDA, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Tourism, SM Markets, SM Supermalls, and D’ Planners Training Center Inc.
