SAN RAFAEL, Bulacan – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) distributed a total of 100 shallow tube wells (STWs) and engines to the Pampanga-Bataan Irrigation Management Office (PamBat IMO) on October 18 in Floridablanca, Pampanga.
Josephine Salazar, NIA Central Luzon regional manager, told ARKIPELAGO NEWS BULACAN that the distribution aims to provide irrigation water supply to farmlands and boost rice production.
Members of the Irrigators Associations (IAs) and farmers from the municipalities of Porac, Lubao, Guagua, Sta. Rita, and Floridablanca in Pampanga were the beneficiaries of the shallow tube wells. Salazar emphasized that this initiative reflects NIA’s commitment to providing essential resources for irrigation.
The STWs are expected to improve the irrigation capacity of IAs, enabling more efficient water distribution in their respective service areas. This, in turn, will lead to better rice production, increased cropping intensity, and higher agricultural output, thereby boosting farmers’ incomes, Salazar added.
Among those present during the event were Sen. Imee Marcos, Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, as well as NIA and local officials of Floridablanca.
