Three police officers arrested in Bulacan for robbery
Paulo Gaborni August 31, 2024 at 04:56 PMBULACAN — A police major and two other officers were arrested in a follow-up operation by authorities after they allegedly robbed a businessman at his home in Balagtas, Bulacan, on Thursday.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 Director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Bulacan police identified the arrested suspects as PMaj. Armando Reyes, 55, a resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Sta. Maria, Bulacan, and attached to the Hagonoy Police Station; PSSg Anthony Ancheta, 48, stationed at the Malolos City PNP and a resident of Barangay Mojon, Malolos City, Bulacan; and PSMS Ronnie Galion, 43, stationed at the Sta. Maria Police Station and a resident of Barangay Mag-asawang Sapa, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
According to authorities, the victim, Esmeraldo Magbitang Jr., a 40-year-old businessman and pharmaceutical supplier from Barangay Borol 2nd, Balagtas, Bulacan, informed them that at least seven men had entered his compound under the pretense of seeking financial aid. However, the suspects then drew their firearms and announced a holdup.
Magbitang added that the armed men entered his home, stole gadgets, bags, cellphones, and 30 million pesos in cash, before fleeing in a Toyota Avanza with the license plate number NBY4429.
With the help of CCTV footage, a follow-up operation by members of the Bulakan SWAT Team, PMFC, PIU Bulacan police, PIDMU Bulacan PNP, and Balagtas police led to the identification and arrest of the three suspects.
The police are currently conducting an operation to apprehend the remaining four suspects, who are also active police officers.
