Transport rallies monitored in Bulacan
Mon Lazaro November 23, 2023 at 12:35 AMCAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Transport strike rallies were monitored in Calumpit and Santa Maria towns in Bulacan on Wednesday (November 22).
The jeepney strike was called by the transport group MANIBELA to air their grievances on the modernization program of the government on the traditional jeepneys.
Reports reaching Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr.,Central Luzon regional police director said, the United Calumpit Jeepney Operators and drivers Association- UCAJODA MANIBELA led by its president Boy Tenorio conducted a transport strike and protest rally along the intersection of McArthur Highway, Barangay San Marcos, Calumpit town.
In Santa Maria town, symphatizers of transport group Halang-Pamana-Tumana (HAPATU) – Manibela led by Emer Dela Rosa conducted a tigil pasada in Barangay Poblacion Terminal.
A transport group was also monitored by the Bocaue Police Station passing along MacArthur Highway that was said to be on its way to join the mass rally in the National Capital Region.
Regarding the transport strike in Pampanga, Col. Levi Hope Basilio, police director in the province, said in a text message, “Tigil pasada lang sila pero walang nagpicket.”
