Transport strike rally monitored in Calumpit town
Mon Lazaro October 16, 2023 at 08:16 PMCAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — The Bulacan Police has monitored one transport strike rally in Calumpit town on Monday (October 16).
Reports reaching Col. Relly Arnedo, Bulacan police director, said that around 35 ralliers were monitored along McArthur Highway in Barangay San Marcos, Calumpit town.
The ralliers, was lead by Jose Pagdanganan who is an official of a local transport group UCAJODA-MANIBELA and is clamoring for a no to jeepney phaseout.
The Bulacan Police has deployed a total of 64 PNP personnel to oversee the protest rally with additional assistance from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine Coast Guard.
It added that it has also established 24 checkpoints and 24 mobile patrols to monitor the transport strike in the province.
