Two policemen shot by gunman during a buy bust operation in Bocaue

BOCAUE, Bulacan — Two police officers were killed during a buy-bust operation in Bocaue, Bulacan, on Saturday, March 8.

The victims were identified as Police Staff Sgt. Dennis Cudiamat, who was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in the head, and Police Staff Sgt. Gian George dela Cruz, who died shortly after arriving at the hospital from gunshot wounds to his body.

The incident occurred in Sitio Tugatog, Barangay Tambubong, when the Bocaue Police were conducting a drug bust. According to authorities, the officers were ambushed by an unidentified gunman who opened fire without warning. Cudiamat pursued the suspect, but he was fatally shot in the head.

The suspect then took Cudiamat’s service firearm before fleeing the scene in the direction of Pandi, Bulacan.

Dela Cruz was rushed to Dr. Yanga’s Hospital but was declared dead around 3:20 p.m.

A manhunt for the suspect is underway, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence. The Philippine National Police’s Scene of the Crime Operatives (PNP- SOCO) are processing the crime scene.
