Organizer ng community pantry sa Marikina natakot sa pagbisita ng mga pulis

Napalitan ng takot ang dapat sana’y saya ng mga nag-organisa ng isang community pantry sa lungsod ng Marikina. Ikinuwento ni Ana Patricia Non, ang nagpasimula ng community pantry sa bansa, ang isang pangyayari sa kanyang Facebook post. Aniya nagising daw siya sa mensahe ng isa sa community pantry organizer na nagsasabing may mga pulis sa kanilang pantry.

May pinapasagutan daw na form sa kanila at nagtatanong kung may organisasyon silang kinabibilangan. Bukod pa rito, hinihingi rin daw ng mga pulis ang kanilang mga personal na impormasyon kagaya ng pangalan, lugar na tinitirhan at kung ano ang kanyang trabaho.

Kahit labag man daw sa kanyang kalooban, sinagutan daw ng organizer ang naturang form dahil makukulit daw ang mga pulis at humahaba na raw ang pila ng mga gustong makakuha ng pagkain sa kanilang pantry.

Umalis daw ang mga pulis matapos nilang makuha ang mga kailangang impormasyon. Pero makalipas lamang ang ilang oras, bumalik daw ang mga ito at sapilitang ipinapaturo sa organizer ang kanyang tahanan. Nang tanungin niya kung para saan at kung anong dahilan, wala raw maibigay na sagot sa kanya ang mga pulis.

Ayon kay Patreng, nakalulungkot daw na patuloy pa rin itong nangyayari sa kabila ng pahayag na inilabas ng Department of Justice patungkol sa isinasagawang profiling ng mga pulis. Lalo na at hindi naman aniya labag sa batas ang ginagawa nilang pagtulong.

Ulila na raw ang organizer at ang kapatid nito. Kahit hirap din sila sa kinakaharap na pandemya ay pinili raw nilang tumulong bilang pag-alala sa kabutihan ng kanilang ina dahil palagi raw siyang tumutulong sa kapwa noong siya ay nabubuhay pa.

Nalungkot sa kwentong ito hindi lang si Patreng at iba pang organizer kundi pati na rin ang mga taong umaasa ng kanilang pantawid-gutom sa mga community pantry.

Kaya muling binigyang- diin ni Patreng na ang mga tao sa likod ng pantry ay mga indibidwal na ang tanging nais lang ay makatulong sa iba.

“Ang mga Community Pantry organizers ay mga simpleng mamamayan. May guro, jeepney drivers, estudyante, business owner, ofw, journalist, magsasaka etc. Iba iba po ang background namin pero solidarity network po kami ng mga taong naniniwala sa food security,” paliwanag ni Patreng.

Binatikos naman ng mga netizen ang ginawa ng mga pulis. Ayon sa isang komento sa Facebook post ni Patreng “Pano… ang Community Pantries kasi ang nagpapakita na inutil talaga ang gobyerno! Sa 6k+ na pantries at libo-libong natutulungan kada araw eh di nila kaya tapatan na imbis na mas higitan nila kasi responsibilidad nila ang sambayanan, eh hihilahin na lang nila pababa. Kasi di sila makapaniwala na kaya tong gawin ng mga normal at simpleng mamamayan. Dahil silaw sila sa kayamanan at kapangyarihan nila. Ika nga, Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine any brighter.”

Ayon pa kay Patreng, “Kailanman di krimen ang pagtulong at lalong hindi iligal na armas ang gulay at bigas.” Kaya nananawagan si Patreng at ang iba pang community pantry organizer sa mga opisyal ng gobyerno na suportahan at protektahan ang mga taong kusang-loob na tumutulong sa mga community pantry sa bansa.
