METRO MANILA – Katrina Anne Castañeda Johnson was crowned Binibining Pilipinas International 2025 on June 15 at the iconic Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The 27-year-old from Davao Province, a former first runner-up in 2023, made a triumphant return, securing the prestigious title among 36 contestants. She also earned the Best in Evening Gown and Binibining Dunkin’ awards, adding to her night of victories.

The Winning Answer

During the pivotal Question and Answer segment, Katrina was asked:

“Lies told a thousand times become the truth. What is your reaction to this statement now that fake news pollutes and corrupts our society more than ever?

She responded:

“Well, I think social media and the internet is such a blessing to all of us because it allows us to create a community online with people from all around the world. But yes, fake news is a rampant issue nowadays.

And to be honest with you, I think the best way that we can combat that is to make sure that we’re educating people on how to discern information. We need to be aware, we need to regulate, and make our online communities a safe space for everyone.”

Her composed and insightful response resonated with both the judges and the audience, emphasizing the importance of media literacy.

More Than Just a Beauty Queen

Katrina is a licensed and certified clinical pharmacist with a deep passion for making healthcare more accessible. She is actively engaged in community outreach and health initiatives.

Additionally, she is a dedicated animal advocate, caring for 13 rescue dogs—including seniors and a wheelchair-assisted pup.

The night’s notable titleholders and awardees included:
● Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2025 – Annabelle Mae McDonnell of Iligan City
● First Runner-Up – Dalia Varde Khattab of Las Piñas, who also won Best in Swimsuit
● Second Runner-Up – Kathleen Enid Espenido of Siargao

Katrina will proudly represent the Philippines at Miss International 2026 in Tokyo, Japan.
