Filipina tennis star Alex Eala dropped 16 spots in the latest WTA rankings following her fourth-round finish at the Miami Open—marking her steepest decline since breaking into the top 100.

Eala’s campaign came to an abrupt end in the Round of 16 after a dominant straight-sets loss to Karolína Muchová, 0-6, 2-6.

The rankings slide was largely due to Eala’s inability to defend the points she earned from her semifinal run in last year’s tournament.

With only a Round of 16 finish this time, the 18-year-old suffered a significant reduction in ranking points, impacting her standing on the global stage.

Despite the setback, Eala is expected to bounce back quickly as she sets her sights on the Linz Open, where she aims to regain lost ground and rebuild momentum on the tour.
