CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — The gun recovered from the suspected gunman in the killing of a policeman in the City of Malolos matches the shells recovered from the crime scene.
Col. Angel Garcillano, Bulacan police director, told ARKIPELAGO NEWS that based on the findings of the cross-matching conducted by the Bulacan Provincial Crime Laboratory Office on the gun recovered from Monjeanne Julian Salamat and the fired cartridge recovered from the crime scene, the spent shell was fired from the said gun.
The cross-match report identified the gun as a 9mm Taurus Armas G3 pistol with serial number ACE918431. The findings revealed that microscopic examination and comparison of the item recovered from the fired cartridge showed the same individual characteristics with the test cartridge cases fired from the said firearm.
It can be recalled that Salamat was tagged as the gunman in the murder of Staff Sergeant Renato Casauay Jr. in Barangay Mojon, City of Malolos, on January 24.
Salamat was arrested last Wednesday (February 4) by members of the Bulacan and Davao police operatives in a follow-up operation at a transportation hub in Barangay Magugpo West, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
