Mangingisda at magsasaka sa Calumpit, Bulacan, nabigyan ng tulong pangkabuhayan

Hindi araw-araw ay may nalalambat na lamang dagat si Ruben Adriano, 48 na taong gulang. Aniya, matumal daw minsan ang kanyang huli dahil sa paglipat ng tirahan ng mga isda. May mga araw din daw na hindi naman siya makapamalakaya dahil sa taas ng tubig sa kanilang lugar.

“Bahain kasi ang lugar namin. Kapag malalim ang tubig, hindi makapangisda. Kailangan pang hintayin na bumaba ito,” kuwento ni Rubino sa Arkipelago News.

Ilan lang daw ang mga ito sa mga pagsubok na pinagdadaanan ng mga mangingisdang katulad niya.

Kaya aminado si Rubino na hindi sapat ang pangingisda para matustusan ang pangangailangan ng kanyang pamilya. Kailangan niya pa raw magtrabaho bilang construction worker para makakuha ng dagdag na kita.

Pitong taon nang nangingisda si Rubino na taga-San Jose, Calumpit, Bulacan. Ibinahagi niya sa Arkipelago News na mas naging mahirap pa raw ang pangingisda noong nagkaroon ng pandemya.

“Halos walang trabaho dahil panay ang pagbaha. At noong nakaraang taon, wala kaming bangka kaya hindi nakapangisda. Buti na lang at nakakaside-line ako sa paggawa ng bahay,” paliwanag niya.

Nakakatulong din daw ang panganay sa anim niyang anak sa pang-araw-araw nilang gastos. Kaso, humina rin daw ang kita niya nitong huli dahil sa pandemya.

Ayon sa Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, ang Pilipinas ang isa sa mga bansang may pinakamaraming isda sa buong mundo. Noong 2015, umabot daw sa 4.65 milyong metric tons ang produksyon ng isda sa bansa.

Bukod sa pangingisda, itinuturing din na may malaking kontribusyon sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas ang pagsasaka. Nakakapagbigay raw kasi ito ng pagkain at trabaho sa maraming Pilipino, at nakakatulong sa pag-unlad ng bansa.

Pero hindi raw nabibigyan ng sapat na atensyon at suporta ng gobyerno ang mga industriyang ito.

Base sa datos ng Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, tinatayang 70% ng mahihirap sa iba’t ibang probinsya ay magsasaka at mangingisda. At nananatili raw sila sa ganitong sitwasyon dahil sa hindi maayos na pagpapatakbo ng sektor ng agrikultura.

Kaya naman lubos ang pasasalamat ni Rubino sa ayudang natanggap niya mula sa pamahalaang bayan ng Calumpit, Bulacan sa pangunguna ni Mayor Jessie De Jesus.

Ayon kay Ruben, hindi lang daw basta mapupulot kung saan ang isang bagong lambat.

“Malaking bagay ang ibinigay ni Mayor na lambat. Magagamit ko iyon sa pangingisda,” paliwanag niya.

Bukod sa lambat, namigay rin ang pamahalaang bayan ng mga pangunahing gamit sa pagsasaka gaya ng pala, herbicide at insecticide. Nagpamahagi rin daw ng mga food pack si Mayor Jessie sa iba’t ibang barangay.

Ang inisyatibong ito ay bahagi raw ng programa ng punong bayan na mabigyan ng tulong ang bawat sektor at barangay.

Para kay Rubino, malaking tulong rin daw sa kanila ang mga bigas at delatang natanggap nila mula sa lokal na pamahalaan.
