Tubig sa Angat Dam patuloy ang pagbaba, mga magsasaka bitin rin sa patak ng ulan

Ipinapaliwanag ni Simeon Sioson, lider magsasaka sa bayan ng San Miguel na kapag naantala ang buhos ng ulan sa mga sahod ulan na lupang sakahan ay makokompromiso na ang kanilang mga pananim dahil nauuyot na sa tubig ang mga ito.

Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang pagbaba ng tubig ng Angat Dam nitong araw ng Martes dahil sa kakulangan ng pagpatak ng ulan sa watershed area nito.

Paniniwala naman ng mga magsasaka sa mga sahod ulan na lugar, ang madalang na pag-ulan ay bahagi na rin ng epekto ng El Niño.

Base sa pagmomonitor ng Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office ng Bulacan, ang lebel ng tubig sa nasabing dam nitong 8:00 ng umaga araw ng Martes ay nasa 178.76 metro kumpara sa 179.19 metro nitong nakaraang araw ng Lunes na sa kabuuan ay bumaba ng 0.43 metro.

Ang level ng tubig nitong araw ng Martes ay 1.24 metro na mas mababa sa minimum operating level nito na 180 metro at 33.24 metro na mababa sa normal high water level nito.

Dahil sa patuloy na pagbaba ng tubig ng dam ay nanganganib na masuspinde ang suplay ng tubig ng dam para sa irigasyon sa humigit kumulang na 25,000 hektarya ng lupang sakahan sa Bulacan at ilang bahagi ng Pampanga.

Bukod dito, nanganganib rin na mawala ang alokasyon ng tubig para sa hydropower generations ng dam na nagbibigay ng karagdagang suplay ng kuryente para saLuzon Grid.

Kapag nangyari ito, ang tubig ng Angat Dam ay irereserba na lamang para sa tubig inumin ng Kalakhang Maynila.

Ang nasabing dam ang pangunahing pinagkukunan ng tubig inumin para sa mga residente ng Kalakhang Maynila, tubig irigasyon para sa mga sakahan ng Bulacan at ibang lugar sa Pampanga at maging hydro power generation na nakakapagdagdag sa suplay ng kuryente sa Luzon Grid.

Samantala, ang mga magsasaka sa mga sahod ulan na lupang sakahan sa bayan ng San Miguel ay nangangamba na kapag madalang pa rin ang pag-ulan sa mga susunod na araw ay masasapawan na ng mga damo ang mga nauna nilang tanim na palay sa kanilang mga lupang sakahan.

Ito ang tahasang sinabi ni Simeon Sioson, tagapangulo ng 4SM Multipurpose Cooperative sa Barangay Lambakin sa bayan ng San Miguel.

Sinabi pa ni Sioson na maging ang mga nagtanim ng mga gulay sa kanilang lupang sakahan ay nauuyot na rin dahil sa kawalan ng ulan.

Dahil dito nananawagan si Sioson sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno na magsagawa na ng cloud seeding operations para maisalba ang mga pananim at mga sahod ulan na sakahan.
