1,055 families evacuated in Manila amid Severe Tropical Storm Kristine

MANILA, Philippines – The city government of Manila reported that 1,055 families and seven individuals were evacuated from various barangays amid Severe Tropical Storm Kristine. Mayor Honey Lacuna shared this information on Friday, citing a consolidated report from the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).
Relocated Families and Evacuation Sites; Majority from Tondo
The evacuees were relocated to several evacuation sites, where they received essential supplies, including food, modular tents, and hygiene kits. The majority of evacuees, totaling 574, were from the first district of Tondo.
In District 1, evacuees from Barangays 128, 101, 20, and 105 were accommodated at the Delpan Covered Court, Green Building OVP Evacuation Center, Building 3 Evacuation Center, and the Barangay 105 Covered Court.
In District 2, also in Tondo, 39 families from Barangays 199, 200, and 194, along with three unattached individuals, were brought to barangay halls and other evacuation centers.
In District 3, covering Binondo, Quiapo, San Nicolas, and Santa Cruz, 136 families and two unattached individuals from Barangay 275 were evacuated to the Delpan Evacuation Center.
In District 5, which includes Ermita, Intramuros, Malate, Port Area, San Andres, and South Paco, 39 families from Barangays 775 and 740, along with two unattached individuals, were taken to multi-purpose and barangay halls.
District 6, encompassing Paco, Pandacan, San Miguel, Santa Ana, and Santa Mesa, saw 286 affected families from Barangays 598, 895, 894, 893, 607, 903, 897, 901, 902, and 606. They temporarily stayed at the Likha and Damka Evacuation Centers, as well as various barangay halls, covered courts, multi-purpose halls, and Herminigildo Atienza Elementary School.
According to MDSW Chief Re Fugoso, some families are now beginning to return to their homes.
Tropical Storm Kristine brought heavy rains and strong winds to Metro Manila, Northern Luzon, and Calabarzon, following an earlier impact on the Bicol Region. The government continues to monitor the situation and provide assistance as needed.
