Maginhawa Community Pantry

“Magbigay ayon sa kakayahan, kumuha batay sa pangangailangan,” ito ang nakasulat sa karatulang nakasabit sa inisyatibong tinawag na Maginhawa Community Pantry.

Dahil sa kagustuhang makatulong sa mga nangangailangan, naisipan ni Ana Patricia Non na magtayo ng isang community pantry sa Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.

Isang paraan daw ang community pantry kung saan pwedeng mag-iwan ng pagkain at iba pang pangunahing pangangailangan ang mga may kakayahan, at pwedeng kumuha ang mga nangangailangan.

Gamit ang isang kariton na gawa sa kawayan, nilagyan ito ni Ana ng gamot at pagkain gaya ng bigas, delata, gulay at iba pa.

Ayon sa Facebook post ni Ana, sinabi niya na huwag daw sanang magdalawang isip na kumuha ang sinuman na nangangailangan.

“Wag mahiyang kumuha andun lang po iyun. May hand sanitizer din para sa mga kukuha at mag-iiwan. Kung kayo ay nasa neighborhood pwede din kayo mag-iwan sa community pantry ng groceries, andun lang iyon from 6AM-6PM. Kung sakaling malayo ka naman pwede ka magsimula ng community pantry sa inyong lugar. Salamat,” ayon kay Ana.

Sa panayam ng Arkipelago News kay Ana, sinabi niya na ginawa raw niya ito dahil naaawa na siya sa kalagayan ng mga kapwa Pilipino. Ang nakikita raw niyang kahirapan at pagkagutom sa panahon ng pandemya ang nagtulak sa kanya para simulan ang Maginhawa Community Pantry.

“Agitated din ako sa mga current na nangyayari particularly sa bansa natin. Ang taas ng unemployment rate, ang haba ng pila sa ayuda, tapos gutom na talaga yung mga Pinoy. Matagal na din tayo nagde-demand pero kulang talaga yung dumadating. Kaya kailangan talaga natin magtulungan. Community effort ganun. Tayo tayo na lang kasi,” dagdag pa ni Ana.

Sa panahon ng pandemya, tinatayang nasa 26% o siyamnapung libo ang nagsarang negosyo sa bansa ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry.

Base naman sa talaan ng Philippine Statistics Authority, naging dahilan ito ng pagpalo sa 8.8% ng unemployment rate o mahigit sa apat na milyong Pilipino ang nawalan ng trabaho sa taong 2021.

Nagresulta ito sa pagkagutom at kahirapan sa malaking bilang ng mga Pilipino.

Malinaw naman kay Ana kung ano ang kaya at hindi kayang gawin ng kanyang inisyatibo.

“Di nito masasagot ang root cause ng kagutuman pero okay na din na pantawid gutom sa mga nangangailangan. Mahirap magtrabaho, mag-aral at lumaban habang kumakalam ang tiyan,” sabi ni Ana.

Naging inspirasyon ang ginawa ni Ana sa maraming tao. Sa comment section ng kanyang post, bumuhos ang paghanga at papuri sa kanya ng mga netizen. Nahihikayat daw nito ang mga tao na tumulong at umpisahan din ang community pantry sa kani-kanilang lugar.

Isa si Ivanka Custodio sa nagkomento sa post ni Ana, “Ang galing! Sana marami pang ganito. Subukan din naming gawin sa barangay namin.”

Ikinuwento naman ni Kiel Beldia sa Arkipelago News na naisip daw niya agad na tumulong nang makita niya ang naturang post ni Ana. Dahil nakatira raw siya malapit sa community pantry ni Ana, nag-iwan daw siya ng isang balot ng tinapay, isang kilo ng talong, isang kilo ng patatas at isang repolyo.

“Kasi alam ko yung feeling na walang wala ka, yung tipong isang kain ka lang sa isang araw. Marami akong friends na nakakaranas ng ganyang sitwasyon ngayong pandemic. Hindi lahat ng tao may kakayanan na mag-provide sa kanilang pamilya, mas marami yung mga tao na ‘di privileged and nais ko lang tumulong sa mga tao na yun” ayon kay Kiel.

Sa pagtatapos ng unang araw ng Maginhawa Community Pantry, labis ang pasasalamat at tuwa ni Ana sa mga taong nagpaabot ng tulong. Makakaasa raw sila na makararating ito sa mga nangangailangan.
