CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — Three active policemen from Bulacan are now facing robbery and administrative cases after being apprehended during a police follow-up operation on Wednesday night, following the robbery of a businessman in Balagtas town earlier that day.

Reports reaching Col. Satur Ediong, acting Bulacan police director, indicated that one of the suspects holds the rank of police major and is assigned to the Hagonoy Police Station, while another is a staff sergeant at the City of Malolos Police Station, and the third is a master sergeant at the Santa Maria Police Station.

An initial police investigation revealed that the three suspects, along with four other accomplices who remain at large, robbed a businessman and pharmaceutical supplier at Saint Francis Subdivision, Barangay Borol 2nd, Balagtas town, on Wednesday morning. They reportedly stole approximately P30 million in cash and several cellphones.

At around 9:00 p.m. the same day, the three suspects were apprehended in a follow-up operation, while their four accomplices evaded arrest.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon regional police director, confirmed in a statement that the three suspects are members of the Bulacan Police and are currently under police custody.

“The incident has once again cast a shadow over [the] police force, undermining the trust we have diligently worked to build with the public,” Hidalgo noted.

He also mentioned that he personally visited the Bulacan Provincial Police Office and addressed all unit commanders, urging them to uphold the law and never engage in illegal activities.

Hidalgo emphasized that he would not, under any circumstances, condone any unlawful acts committed by their members.

Given the seriousness of the allegations, Hidalgo said it is crucial to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to uncover the full truth.

“Rest assured, there will be no cover-ups. If found guilty, those responsible will be held accountable and face the full consequences of their actions,” Hidalgo added.
