International Women’s Day ipinagdiwang sa Caloocan

Aktibong nakiisa ang iba-ibang grupo sa Caloocan City sa pagdiriwang ng International Women’s Day nitong March 8, at ng National Women’s Month sa buong buwan ng Marso na may temang “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan.”

Pinailawan ng violet ng lokal na pamahalaan ang City Hall, na ayon kay Mayor Along Malapitan ay, “Ang kulay na ito ay sumisimbolo ng dignidad, hustisya, at pantay na karapatan para sa mga kababaihan.”

Naglunsad din ng proyektong tinaguriang Women’s Day-off para sa mga kababaihang kawani ng pamahalaang lungsod na pinangunahan ng Caloocan City Gender and Development Resource and Coordinating Office (GADRCO).

Para sa okasyon ay naghanda ang GADRCO ng mga aktibidad, sorpresa at mga libreng serbisyo para sa mga kababaihan tulad ng masahe, facial, manicure, at pedicure.

Sabi ng GADRCO, “Layon po natin na sa pamamagitan nito’y maipadama sa ating mga kawani na sila rin ay kabahagi ng komunidad na ating pinahahalagahan at pinaglilingkuran.”

Ang Caloocan Health Department (CHD) naman ay nagsagawa ng counseling tungkol sa Family Planning, Reproductive Health at paggamit ng mabisa at safe na mga contraceptives gaya ng pills, injectables, condoms at implant, kasabay rin ng HIV Awareness information campaign.

Katuwang ng CHD sa programang ito ang Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) at ang CHD Camarin Cluster.

Naghandog ng maikling video-recorded na pagbati ang mga babaeng lingkod-bayan ng lungsod sa pangunguna ni Vice Mayor Karina The.

Kasama sa naturang video message sina City Councilors Carol Cunanan, Leah Bacolod, May Africa, Onet Henson, Tess Ceralde, Bea Hedreyda, at Kaye Nubla.

Samantala, nagdaos ang mga estudyante, teaching staff at mga kawani ng University of Caloocan City (UCC) South Campus ng tinawag nilang Purple Walk Parade.

Ayon sa UCC – College of Business and Accountancy Council South Campus, “[T]he University of Caloocan City South Campus conducted a Purple Walk parade to show strong support for women’s empowerment and gender equality.”

Sabi naman ng Young Entrepreneurs Society – UCC South Campus, “[T]he Purple Walk Parade was a colorful celebration of women’s strength, variety, and unwavering spirit; as we marched in together, we amplify our support for inclusivity, equality, and empowerment. Let us continue to walk proudly, knowing that each step brings us closer to a brighter and fairer future for all.”

Nagdaos din ng espesyal na seremonya para sa okasyon ang Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS).

Pinangunahan ni CCPS Chief, Col. Ruben Lacuesta kasama si GADRCO OIC Jan Christine Bagtas ang pagdiriwang gayundin ang paggawad ng Certificate of Commendation sa ilang mga natatanging babaeng miyembro ng pulisya.

Ang mga binigyan ng parangal ay sina: PCMS Gigie De Jesus at PCPL Ma. Amor Lorenzo (Outstanding accomplishment for being Ranked 1, points of allocation of 76.12 in the District Logistics Division, Northern Police District Unit Performance Evaluation Rating (UPER), at NUP Leonora Liban (Exemplary performance and devotion to duty as a member of the Technical Working Group during the conduct of formulation and workshop on the 2023-2025 Caloocan Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan (POPS Plan).

Naghanda naman ang Rotaract Club of Caloocan ng Anti-Violence Against Women and Children (Anti-VAWC) and Safe Spaces Act Seminar na pinamagatang ‘JUANA ng Bagong Henerasyon.’

Ang naturang aktibidad ay gaganapin sa Marso 17 sa Barangay 28 sa lungsod katuwang ang Integrated Bar of the Philippines Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas Chapter (IBP CalMaNa) at iba-iba pang grupo.
