Suspected drug courier arrested in Caloocan City with over P1.5M worth of marijuana

CALOOCAN CITY – A suspected drug courier was arrested on Wednesday night in Caloocan City after attempting to evade authorities at a checkpoint, leading to the discovery of over P1.5 million worth of illegal drugs.
According to police reports, the arrest took place at around 11:45 PM during a COMELEC checkpoint conducted by officers from Police Sub-Station 9 (SS9) in Barangay 171, Bagumbong.

The suspect, identified only as “Jonathan,” 24, was riding a Honda Beat motorcycle and carrying a Lalamove bag when officers flagged him down for not wearing a helmet. Instead of stopping, he attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by authorities.
Upon inspection, officers discovered that the suspect had no driver’s license and that the motorcycle was unregistered. A search of his Lalamove bag led to the discovery of 11 kilograms of suspected marijuana bricks, one kilogram of dried marijuana leaves, 60 suspected ecstasy tablets, bottles of suspected liquid marijuana, and a sachet of suspected cocaine. The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is P1,573,100.

Alias “Jonathan” is now facing charges for resisting arrest under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, as well as violations of Section 11, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).
The case has been referred to the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office for formal filing. Authorities continue their investigation to determine the source and distribution network of the illegal drugs.
