Mayoral Clash sa Caloocan: Trillanes vs Malapitan

CALOOCAN CITY- Umiinit ang tunggalian sa pagitan ng dalawang kilalang pangalan sa lokal na politika ng Lungsod ng Caloocan.

Ang kasalukuyang alkalde Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan at dating senador Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes ay naglunsad ng kani-kanilang kampanya noong Biyernes, Marso 28, na may magkasalungat na panawagan: ibinabandera ni Malapitan ang “tested and proven” na pamumuno, habang si Trillanes ay may panawagan para sa pagbabago at laban kontra korapsyon.

Parehong trending ang kanilang mga ad campaign sa social media. Alamin ang kanilang bitbit na mga plataporma:

“Sa ilang taon kong pagseserbisyo bilang Mayor ng mga Batang Kankaloo, naramdaman ko po ang inyong suporta at mainit na pagtanggap,” ani Mayor Malapitan. “Marami na tayong nagawa para sa ikauunlad ng ating minamahal na lungsod, at iyon ay naging posible lamang sa tulong ninyo at sa gabay po ng Panginoon.”

Nangako rin si Malapitan na magpapatupad siya ng mga bagong programa at inisyatiba kung mabibigyan ng ikalawang termino bilang punong lungsod.

Hindi naman nagpapahuli si Trillanes. Naglunsad ang dating senador ng kampanyang nakasentro sa paglaban sa korapsyon. Binabatikos niya ang umano’y mga “ghost employees” at ang sobrang mahal na procurement na aniya’y posibleng nagdulot ng P2 bilyong pagkalugi sa pondo ng lungsod.

Sa kanyang plataporma, idiniin ni Trillanes ang pangako ng isang malinis, malinaw, at tapat na pamamahala. “Ni isang kaso ng corruption, wala tayong natanggap,” ani Trillanes.

Ipinunto rin niya ang kanyang track record bilang senador. “Pupunta tayo doon sa track record ko sa Senado. Kahit pinagbawalan na ang pagpublish ng SALN, kami, pinapublish namin ito sa website. That’s how transparent we are,” aniya. “Sa 12 taon kong serbisyo sa Senado, kahit dumaan sa atin ang national budget na trilyon-trilyon, ni isang kaso ng korapsyon, wala tayong natanggap. Ito ang bitbit kong track record sa Caloocan.”

Bukod sa kampanya laban sa korapsyon, plano rin niyang gawing mas madali ang pagnenegosyo sa lungsod, magpatupad ng three-year tax holiday para sa mga bagong negosyo, bawasan ang renewal fees, at maglunsad ng rehabilitasyon at job creation bilang tugon sa problema ng droga.

Malapitan vs. Trillanes: Survey stats

Ang Caloocan ay may tinatayang populasyon na 1.6 milyon at 700,000 rehistradong botante noong 2022. Nahahati ang lungsod sa dalawang bahagi—North Caloocan at South Caloocan—na pinagigitnaan ng Quezon City at Valenzuela.

Bagama’t maingay ang kampanya ni Trillanes, tila matarik ang kanyang inaakyat. Ayon sa Social Weather Stations survey, nakakuha si Malapitan ng 85% voter support, habang si Trillanes ay 10% naman.
