Community Pantry on Wheels sa Baliwag, Bulacan

Hindi raw siya magpapahuli sa pagbibigay tulong at pagsasabuhay sa espiritu ng bayanihan. Ito ang sinabi ni Roan Alipio kaugnay sa pagbubukas niya ng isang kakaibang community pantry sa Baliwag, Bulacan.

Imbis kasi lamesang nakapirmi sa isang lugar, pantry sa sasakyang nag-iikot sa mga barangay ang ginawa nila.

Katulong ang kanyang mga kaibigan na miyembro rin ng Saint Augustine Parish Choir (SAPC), binuksan ni Roan noong April 21 ang Community Pantry on Wheels.

Kapareho ng konsepto ng ibang community pantries, ang Pantry on Wheels ay mamimigay rin ng mga pangunahing pangangailangan ng mga tao tulad ng pagkain. Pero ang pinagkaiba sila ang mag-iikot sa iba’t ibang barangay sa Baliwag gamit ang isang sasakyan.

Kapag nakarating sa isang lokasyon, iaayos daw nila ang mga goods sa lamesa. Mas madali daw makakapili at makakakuha ang mga nangangailangan sa ganitong paraan. Una nilang pinuntahan ang Bisita ng Tarcan sa Calle Rizal, Tarcan-Makinabang Baliuag.

Sa edad na 26, sinabi ni Roan na ito ang unang pagkakataon na bumuo siya ng isang community-based project. Pero hindi raw ito hadlang sa kanyang pagnanais na makatulong. Marami na rin daw siyang karanasan sa volunteerism dahil aktibo siya sa mga outreach program ng SAPC.

“Seeing people extending a helping hand has always touched me. At sa panahon ngayon na maraming nagstruggle araw-araw, gusto ko silang matulungang makapaglagay ng makakain sa kanilang hapag-kainan,” paliwanag niya.

Pagkain at bigas ang mga pangunahing ipinamimigay ng Pantry on Wheels. Pero available rin daw ang ilan pang bagay tulad ng damit, sabon at iba pa. Halos lahat daw ng mga ito ay donasyon.

“Nauna pong nag-donate ang mga kaibigan ko. Hanggang sa patuloy ang pagpasok ng donasyon. May mga nagbibigay rin na hindi ko kakilala. And that’s the beauty of this project — people from different walks of life having one heart to help,” sabi ni Roan.

Successful daw ang unang araw ng kanilang pantry. Maraming kababayan nila ang nagpunta at natuwa sa pagkakaroon nito sa kanilang lugar.

“Para po sa akin, successful ang pagbubukas namin ng community pantry dahil nakapagbahagi kami ng tulong sa mga nangangailangan. Hindi namin sila kilala, hindi namin alam kung anong kailangan nila, pero ang mahalaga ay nakapag-abot kami ng kahit maliit na tulong,” sabi ni Roan.

Nakausap daw niya ang ilan sa mga dumating at lubos siyang natutuwa.

“Nakakataba ng puso na makarinig ng “salamat” sa mga taong hindi mo kilala pero natulungan mo,” kwento ni Roan.

Iikot ang kanilang grupo sa iba pang barangay para magbukas ng community pantry at makatulong pa sa mas maraming tao.
